Accreditation for kids' coding schools and academies.
YLEA gives coding schools an independent quality mark that parents, schools, and partners recognise. Show that your curriculum, delivery, and safeguarding meet a serious youth learning standard.
Why get accredited
What accreditation does for your program
Stand out in a crowded market
Parents compare a dozen coding programs before enrolling. Accreditation is a concrete answer to 'what makes yours different?'
Win school and partner deals
Schools, councils, and enterprise partners look for independent quality signals before choosing a provider. The YLEA mark is one.
Strengthen the program itself
The review process gives you structured reviewer feedback across curriculum, safeguarding, and evidence of learning.
What we assess
How the six standards apply here
Curriculum design
Scope, sequencing, and progression across your Scratch, Python, JavaScript, or game-dev tracks.
Age-appropriate delivery
Pacing, activities, and project difficulty matched to the age band you serve.
Structured learning hours
Real teaching hours per level, not just marketing claims of 'course length'.
Evidence of learning
How you show a learner has actually built something, not just watched a lesson.
Safeguarding & staff conduct
DBS/background checks, safeguarding lead, and clear conduct expectations for instructors.
Responsible tech and AI use
How AI tools, coding platforms, and learner data are handled safely.
How to get accredited
A clear path from first submission to a public quality mark.
- Step 01
Submit your program
Share your coding curriculum, age range, delivery format, and structured hours.
- Step 02

Experienced reviewers assess your submission against the six standards.
- Step 03
Badge & certificate
Approved programs receive the YLEA mark and a certificate for your site and marketing.
Common questions
Does YLEA accredit online-only coding schools?
Yes. Online, in-person, and hybrid delivery are all in scope, provided the program is structured and taught by staff.
Do you accredit our coding school, or one specific course?
One specific program for a defined age range and format. If you run separate Scratch, Python, and web-dev tracks, each can be reviewed as its own program.
We use AI tools with students. Is that a problem?
Not at all. We look at how AI is used with young learners, including data handling and age-appropriate use, not whether you use it.
How long does the review take?
Most first reviews complete within a few weeks of a complete submission. Programs asked to revise usually resubmit within the same review cycle.
